The Lodge is a sacred living presence, a reflection an image of all creation and so needs to be addressed as such. The sacred Holy way of the lodge and its power to transform balance and purify will be experienced and explored. The Lodge experience is an essential part of each participant’s initiation within the practice and understanding of Shamanism.

On the evening of the lodge there was a storm brewing we were not sure
If Dermot would go ahead with lodge. This was the last of our four days of fasting and our third night to sweat together. As you can imagine we were all quite weak. The evening grew dark and a flash of lightening lit up the sky. Just then I saw a ball of blue light like a comet crash into the land between out lodge and the fire pit. I knew from this sign that the lodge was going to go ahead
All through the ceremony as we chanted and sang we could hear the thunder beings answer our prayers. It was truly a coming together of all the natural elements of the creator .For me personally it was a life changing experience I will hope to experience more of these heart and mind opening experiences in the future as I look forward to completing my training with Dermot Next year… Laura Dublin.

Dermot reminds us that by honouring the spirits of the Ancestors we need to understand that in Spirit our ancestors are one. Because of this the Great Spirit, the Holy Spirit, the Awen. The Universe or whatever we hold to be the Higher Power in our lives requires that our teachings and instruction of a Spiritual nature be of oneness and not of competition and separateness.

KARMA THE CYCLE OF LIFE Teach Alluis or Sweat Houses have been in existence for hundreds of years if not centuries in Ireland.. Sadly the use of these places has fallen away .The wisdom one shared in these houses has also faded with the passing of time .To day most of them lie in ruins in different part of Ireland. Once such House has been restored and can be found on the road to Tuam in County Galway. Its a mile from Barnderg on the left hand side of the road into Tuam.This structure is a square built into the side of a well. Apparently these Sweat Houses existed around the country long ago but as time has passed so too did their use. Many of these houses were of either a round or oval shape .The one in Tuam is about five feet high and about ten feet square with a five foot high door just two foot wide. ===================================================== ======================================================== When we work in the ritual of the moon we enter the sacred space of the Goddess. Here in Ireland our Goddess of Fertility and Healing is Brigit. There is also a close link between the Wolf and Brigit .In this ceremony we embrace the fear of the unknown and the power of the ever changing Universe within which we exist. Many therapists to day fully recognize the powerful influence that ceremony and ritual have over the human psyche. Others work with it because they know how powerful an effect the moon has on our psyche .To day more than ever modern society needs to acknowledge this and work in balance to overcome the disharmony that is experienced by many at this time. As a natural born Healer/Shaman I believe we come here on Earth to learn from the human emotional process and that by disconnecting or repressing or numbing our emotional state we miss out on the vital learning from each experience and so we continue to repeat certain experiences that we don’t particularly like. After all we are Spirits who have come into this world to have a human experience not the other way around . I was once told by a very good friend that a Heavenly Spirit is of no Earthly good. This is of course is true .If you are not grounded you are out of balance on so many different levels you will find it hard to focus in the present moment. Because of this unbalance you will be constantly out of your mind and body. The word lunatic describes the out of your mind effect the Moon can have on us if we are not in touch balanced mentally and grounded within our body .

We put our new tipi through its paces it held out really well despite the heavy snow fall overnight.Many thanks to all the wonderful Souls who braved the elements and were rewarded with two days of sun, fun and snow at both events. It was great to see so many old and some not so old faces brave the snow and embrace the elements as we got it together for our Imbloc Sweat Lodge and Fire Ceremony.
Imbolc also saw us welcome Grandmother Moon in her fullness .

In A Sacred Way ...
Even the seasons form a great circle in their changing, and always come back again to where they were.Mother Earth and Grandmother moon both travel in a circle. The Sweat lodge is a circle the Earth is a circle karma works in a circle,You reap what you sow is a circle.The Master Jesus taught do unto others as you would have them do unto you.This is a simple Universal law know for generations and has never been a secret, despite what marketing people might lead you to believe and buy into. They all represent the sacredness of creation as we complete each cycle. Endings and beginnings all marking and celebrating change. Something we humans resist for some strange reason. I wonder why?. This is why Dermot believes the Sweat lodge Ceremony is so important in to days society.He believes we all need spiritual support to create a better life and ultimately a better world for all.This requires great change something the human condition is never comfortable with. So come and experience positive growth and face the real challenge of changing the world around you for the betterment of all.

BRIGITS WELL
Many of these Sweat Houses were set beside sacred wells and the houses were reported to cure various ailments such as rheumatism and other aches and pains. Interestingly enough most of these wells still exist to day and they still have what locals call the cure. Many of these wells are known as Brigits Well showing a definite connection to the Goddess of the land.
THE CURE
The cure implied that the well could heal people who bathed in the waters. I wonder how many of these wells had a Sweat House close to them to help people to experience the full healing effect of their vapours from these sacred wells.It is believed that these Sweat Houses were located in most parts of the country as were our Ancient sacred stone circles .There are a number of references to Sweat Houses in the Royal Society of Antiquarians of Ireland and in the Ulster Journal of Archaeology. The records between these two references show Sweat Houses in Counties Derry, Cavan, Tyrone, Fermanagh, Ratlin Island, County Donegal near Ballyshannon, Sligo, Inishmurray, Lough Allen and Slieve an Iariann.
Apparently the way to heat these was to light a fire inside the house. Their shape was mostly beehive with a vent at the top to allow smoke to release. When the flagstones and the walls soaked up the heat the person would enter the house and pour water on the flagstons to create a steam effect. This of course is only what we imagine they may have done .
When we look at the First Nations People of America and the tradition of the Lakota Nation we can see a great similiarity between their Sweat Lodge Ceremony and the Sweat House . I imagine there is a more Spiritual aspect to these structures than we have been led to believe.

At the Peace garden we hold our Full Moon Drumming circle as well as celebrating the Ancient Celtic Festivals around the Wheel of the Seasons .We take great pride in the location we have chosen to as it lends itself beautifully to the work we carry out here. In the Garden we have our permanent Sweat Lodge and 35ft Ceremonial tipi. The sweat lodges take place on each festival in the celtic calendar. We also hold our Full Moon Gatherings there around the tipi fire.
FULL MOON DRUM CIRCLE
LUNA/MOON
Lunatic comes from the word Luna meaning Moon. When our balance is not good we find that we are thrown further into chaos or imbalance by the full moon every 28 days. Women particularly are effected by the moon as it aligns with their menstrual cycle. If we are well grounded and in balance you can receive this positive energy source and channel it into your life in a positive way. If we are not sufficiently in balance as a person or a collective group then the opposite effect will manifest in your collective or individual reality. So if we do not practice the acknowledgment of Granbmothes Moon-time then we miss a great opportunity to improve the quality of life here on earth for everyone.

HOW TO FIND US:
The Celtic Rainbow School of Shamanism is based in the beautiful valley of Glencree.We are easily accessible from Dublin Airport via www.flybus.ie. We provide a pick up service from the drop off point in the Square Shopping Centre Tallagh. If driving into Dublin from the North, North West ,West or South West of the country take the M50 Southbound.Take the 3rd turn off for Bray and follow the signs for Glencree/ Enniskerry. Take the return route to Dublin and stay in the left hand lay by just as you come back onto the motorway heading to Dublin.Here you will see a sharp left turn off up ahead.This road takes you to Enniskerry.Come into Enniskerry and go to the right of the monuement and its straight all the way up the mountain. Its just about a 20 minute drive for you up into the valley.
Please note if coming from the South East region take the Enniskerry turn on your left and forget about Bray .This takes you to Enniskerry and then its just 20 minute drive to Glencree.
From Dublin West you can come through tallagh Old Bawn to the Mill Pub and then straight through the lights and take the next turn right .This takes you into a housing estate .Turn right at the next roundabout and then left at the next one.Go straight up the hill and take a right at the top of the steep climb.This road now takes you to Kilakee car Park.Take the road to the right going across the featherbed and down into Glencree you will see the signs on your left as you pass the pine forest as you come into a sharp bend its about 15 minutes from Kilakee car Park .We look forward to welcoming you soon.
